Have you noticed that the world is ditching GENERALIST in favour of SPECIALIST?

Just this week I read an article on SMH about specialist job websites and how niching down is the future for jobs… but it got me thinking about experts and specialists.

That specialists can command higher prices. 
That specialists are more sought-after.
That specialists are known for something.
That specialists are respected.
That specialists get the results.

So let me ask you – have you figured out YOUR niche yet?

I’d hate for you to be caught-out in this ever-changing online world. I’ve watched as the world has opened up online in the last 9 years of business. When I first launched TGG 9 years ago, I even had a FAX machine!!! #legit So much has changed.

If you continue being a generalist, you’re going to be left behind. (#toughlove) The world needs BUYABLE, GRASPABLE businesses. It needs businesses that it can understand. It needs businesses that are KNOWN as the expert. It needs guaranteed results.

If your dream clients have to choose between general and specific – who will they choose? I don’t know about you, but I don’t want a GP operating on my bowel cancer, thank you very much.

We are in an “innovate or die” society. We watch as big businesses are going under left, right and centre because they’re choosing the old way of doing things rather than embracing the new.

It’s time to step up, to be who you really are, to embrace what makes you AMAZING and to showcase that to the world.

This DOESN’T mean that you’ll lose business. When you articulate your niche so your dream clients are all “uh, huh! GIVE ME SOME OF THAT YESTERDAY!”, and your network actually GETS who you can help and who they can send your way.. it has the opposite effect.

Also, there are ways we CAN articulate what you do so that it DOESN’T exclude audiences. For example, I love working with women. Love love love! But in my languaging I don’t exclude a male audience and have had some absolutely amazing male clients over the years.

Over the past 9 years I’ve helped generalist clients go from “I don’t know how the heck to explain what I do!” – thinking they serve anyone and everyone, to niching down and completely owning their power – and getting the results and rates to prove it.

I know that as a purpose-driven entrepreneur you value and care so much for your clients and their outcomes. I know you believe in serving the crap out of them.. and if you want to continue getting them amazing results – it’s time to hone in and capture your brilliance so you can grow your impact and stay RELEVANT.
